Photography FAQ

Is your work inclusive?

Absolutely. I proudly welcome and celebrate all kinds of families—LGBTQIA+, neurodiverse individuals, trans adults and kids, and people of all body types, ethnicities, and backgrounds. Everyone deserves to feel seen and safe in front of the camera.

That said, I maintain a zero-tolerance policy for harmful behavior. I will end the session if I witness physical discipline, verbal abuse, or demeaning behavior toward anyone present.

How does pricing work and how many images do we receive?

To reserve your session, a $99 booking fee is required—this goes toward your total session cost. (For example, if your session is $899, you’ll pay $99 to book and $800 after the shoot.)

You’ll receive a minimum of 40 fully edited images in both color and black & white.

Who’s your ideal client?

I love working with people who care more about connection than perfection. If you’re open to letting your kids play, snuggle, explore, and just be themselves—trusting me to document those real, beautiful moments—we’re probably a great fit. I’ll still aim to get a few shots of everyone looking at the camera, but I hope you leave our time together with more than just photos—a memory of joy.

If you’re looking for all posed, polished shots, I can refer you to someone whose style is more in line with that.

We’re worried about sunset timing with little ones. What are our options?

It’s understandable to worry about late-day sessions—but I promise, it almost always works out. Kids get a burst of energy in new places, and I keep things short and playful (usually around 45 minutes). Golden hour light is worth it.

If a sunset session truly doesn’t feel doable, you’re welcome to book an in-home session earlier in the day. But to stay true to my creative approach, I don’t generally offer outdoor sessions earlier than golden hour.

What if my child isn’t on their best behavior?

No worries at all. I get it! My sessions are play-based and flexible. I meet kids where they are, whether they’re shy or bouncing off the walls. Let them know we’re going on an adventure to the beach or park, and a fun person with a camera will be there—not that they’re going to “get their picture taken.”

How long is the session?

Sessions with young kids usually last under an hour—just long enough to capture meaningful moments, but not so long that everyone melts down. If no kids are involved, sessions may run a bit longer (up to 2 hours max), depending on the light. Newborn sessions at home typically take around an hour and can go upto 3 hours depending on sleep and nursing cyles. these sessions are baby led, so really deisnged to flow with what your little one needs.

Do we need to bring anything?

I’ll bring a cozy blanket. Props are totally optional—bring them if they feel meaningful to you, or just bring your wonderful selves.

My partner isn’t excited about getting photos taken. What should I do?

If they’re not up for it, come solo with your kiddos! Being present in photos with your children is something you—and they—will treasure forever. Please don’t bring adults who don’t want to be part of the experience. It really matters that everyone there is open and willing.

I saw a Pinterest session I love—can we recreate it?

I shoot intuitively, based on the light, the environment, and your family’s natural energy. If there are a couple of shots you’d like to try, I’m happy to incorporate them, but I don’t work from a rigid shot list or replicate staged sessions.

I don’t love how I look in photos—can you retouch me?

I totally understand—most of us are our own worst critics. I aim to capture you beautifully and authentically, and I don’t do heavy retouching. Instead, I encourage you to shift your focus: these images are about connection, presence, and the fleeting magic of now. Your children won’t remember how your arms looked—they’ll remember your love.

Why don’t we get every photo you take?

Not every shot makes the cut—and that’s a good thing! I curate your gallery to include the best images: the ones where eyes are open, light is lovely, and everyone looks natural and alive. I never hold back good photos.
